It's not due to "electromagnetical signals beamed into your brain"; people get addicted to notifications and new information (no matter how meaningless). That was already being noticed with desktop machines and people constantly checking if they had new emails, or constantly refreshing (and binge reading further pages in) sites like this one, Tumblr etc.

Unreasonable

It's both. The EM fields used are addictive. You do get a boost, similar to smoking a cigarette, directly from the EM field. Combining it with notification, etc... and they've created the most addictive thing in human history.

TiagoTiago

If the EM emissions are addictive, why aren't people worshiping cell towers?

Unreasonable

They are. Through their small little portable devices that they pray to all the damn day long.

Take the phone away, what are they doing? Praying.

But the signal is stronger next to the cell towers; if people were addicted to it, they would be flocking towards the towers.

Unreasonable

Ever measure them? I have. Its much stronger out of your phone. You'd have to climb the tower to get the highest power. The towers just put a base level of signal out everywhere. Still extremely dangerous. Still causes cancer increases. But not nearly to the point of putting a microwave transmitter directly to your brain.

The action they're doing. Looking down. Imagine a bible in place of a phone. Or a koran. Or a rosary. They would look like they were praying. Pacing and praying. Talking and praying. Praying all day long to their phone.
