Always a classic! Thanks.

So is this just firmware or could you open a router and find additional hardware?

I thought mail tampering was a felony?

luckyguy

The NSA is a military organization and doesn't need warrents / is literally above the law.

The problem is, among many, first that this is a standing army acting domesticly. Second they share data with the FBI and legislators are talking about this being something that can apply in court. Also that data could inform suspicion to get a warrent. That's like a cop saying I'm going to search your car without a warrent, don't worry it isn't admissible, oh I see something, now I have a warrent.

Quawonk

You think petty trifles like the law apply to these people?

dabork

So I see a picture of someone opening a Cisco box and then a picture of some workstation .
Besides the short paragraph, where is the evidence that either of these is an "NSA upgrade center" or anything of that nature?

I'm not saying it's not. I'm asking where the evidence is.

dabork

Interesting. This is certainly more compelling than the original post was.
I wonder if this altruism is real or theater...

That's my number one problem with voat. No one provides adequate sources and then 50% of it winds up bunk, and when I ask for sources I usually get downvoated, because wanting proof of something so I can use it later without looking like an idiot totally means I'm a libtard cuck.

dabork

And when they do provide "sources" it's always dripping with bias or completely out of context or outdated by 20 years.

Then they get pissy at people who do the same thing with "liberal" sources. Try posting an Infowars link as a source and see how many downvotes you get. But apparently Breitbart is fair and balanced.

Like I said, I know this is happening for real and I'm not saying this picture is fake. But why not just post a link to the report this blog post is talking about instead of making people trudge through the mud to find the information they really need?

Doing shit like this just gives click money to copy-and-paste "journalists" who contribute nothing.

Al_Rubyx

What a perfectly reasonable opinion that describes reality. Downvoate time.

"A document included in the trove of National Security Agency files released with Glenn Greenwald’s book No Place to Hide details how the agency’s Tailored Access Operations (TAO) unit and other NSA employees intercept servers, routers, and other network gear being shipped to organizations targeted for surveillance and install covert implant firmware onto them before they’re delivered...

... The document, a June 2010 internal newsletter article by the chief of the NSA’s Access and Target Development department (S3261) includes photos (above) of NSA employees opening the shipping box for a Cisco router and installing beacon firmware with a “load station” designed specifically for the task."

For anyone who doesn't care to read the article.

I'd think a search of 'greenwald nsa router cisco' or words to that affect would turn up the results you want.
