They are cleaning house, turning reddit-corp into a shill friendly, propaganda, data-mining & public relations factory. Even subs that were aimed at exposing control (hailcorporate) have been neutered.

AlmightySonOfBob

Hey buddy, remember me? SatansAliens is a little too nutty. Welcome to voat and welcome to the banned-wagon.

bill.lee

My personal advocacy for those who wish to continue with that site or just wish to participate in general civic disobedience is to ensure that the admins are flooded with these types of messages. Ensure that massive amounts of users are banned and/or that the admins are kept incredibly busy.

Harvo

Wow! That is some fucked up shit.

WideAwakeNWO

This is the original message I sent to the admins after being banned. Sounds pretty desperate now looking back on it. I guess what really bothers me the most about it is the $83+ which I spent over the 2 years buying gold for people, and the gold I bought myself, strictly to support Reddit financially. I did this because I believed it in the open exchange of ideas that I thought Reddit was truly about. Clearly this is not the case. .

It would have been one thing if it was just some throwaway account, but it wasn't.

You apologised, were willing to change the behaviour that had you banned and proved that you were invested in contributing to reddit in a positive way. And they just pissed on you. It's a powertrip from beginning to end from them. That they lost a valuable contributor along their trip didn't even phase them.

They showed you who they really are. It is their loss. But they don't care, they just wanted to trip. It's not you OP, it's them.

lawofchaos

It's sad that what surprises me the most about this is that they actually let you know that you were banned.

WideAwakeNWO

This was only after I had asked them why.

Tor1

What language is shitlordvinyl using?

Behavior like this not tolerated at reddit?

Baneofhipsters

Well I'm sure he likes his sleep.

Tecktonik

Wow, that is totally pathetic on the part of the reddit admins. Having someone disagree with you has been elevated to making someone feel unsafe, and will result in a ban. I am having a hard time believing that something this stupid is actually happening. The strangest part is that someone would actually report this... crying for their mommy... and then they get rewarded for doing so.

WideAwakeNWO

Thanks for the welcome. I'm glad I finally got a chance to make it over here.

johnparish

Well, this is what we were worried about. Too bad that they are really going through with this. Time for vague bans to protect the user-base.

I spent years on reddit. You can get banned for disagreeing with a moderator's opinion. Moderators are usually douchebags. Not all of them, but lots of them are. It's rare to find someone who is level headed. The moderation on /r/unitedkingdom is pretty decent; however, I don't like that subcommunity. They are not very smart. Not the stupidest though.

WideAwakeNWO

While it is their website, and they can certainly ban whoever they please, it's just becoming more and more obvious what's going on there.

WideAwakeNWO

I honestly and truly still don't know what comment exactly was the one which got me kicked off. This is really the only interaction I've ever had on Reddit that would come close to making someone feel "Unsafe".

I guess the only other thing he may have said was that I was harassing him by following him around. I commented on 3 different posts he made, one with 100+ comments, but one with no comments.

I certainly agree it wasn't the right way to handle it, but to ban me for THAT?

It was so small and petty what I said and did, that I almost think there's some conspiracy to target me in particular. This is the new Reddit I guess? Look at the guy who got banned from 400+ subs, why did he get kicked off? He certainly fits a similar profile as I do, white, Christian, right leaning politically, pro-America, pro-Constitution, pro 2nd Amendment, etc.

Who knows. Ultimately it's their website (the admins) so they have every right to ban me with no reason whatsoever, and there's nothing I can do about it.

They didn't "fuck you" ban me though, so I have been able to create a new account and continue posting from that. So nice of them.

Please feel free to post the screen shot if you want and let people know what this new "safe reddit" entails.

This is the post that SatansAliens really started baiting me

http://archive.is/Aac89

Who knows what the real reasoning was behind their decision, maybe they just didn't like me. I don't know, but they aren't willing to reinstate me, even after I practically begged for mercy and a second chance.

Which just makes me more suspicious and wonder if I was targeted by someone for saying something they didn't like. But again it's a private website and they have every right to just kick me off for any reason. There's no 1st Amendment rights on Reddit.

toobaditworks

It's funny Reddit gives users the ability to go through everyone's history. Everything they posted and didn't delete. So you as a user can go through and read their comments. It even allows you to vote on those comments and reply to those comments. So it's a function that is programmed into their site. It's not something that users have to go and code by themselves. It's a part of the site. They purposely made it that way.

But when you do reply to those comments and especially if you voice your opinion and disagree with those comments and even more so if you vote on the things someone said then all of a sudden you're banned for following someone around or "brigading" or whatever else they want to call it.

They can just as easy turn off the history or make it so it's read only or you can't vote on it after you visit someone's history. There's many ways they can program it. But they choose to leave it as a way to ban people they disagree with.

In reality reddit programmed the site to act that way and then bans users when they use the functions given to them.

Tor1

It's not the admin's site. They've hijacked the site and devolved a site capable of great technical accomplishments into a 3rd grade islamic madras slapfest.

It's a wrongway trainwreck picking up speed and leaving massive cultural destruction in its wake. It's the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes over there, a total clusterfuck mob of feces throwing animals.

LordVinyl? More like LordOfTheFlies.

OWNtheNWO

That first imgur link isn't working.

WideAwakeNWO

Thanks for pointing it out. Fixed.
