I've researched this before. The preservative is called thimerosal. The preservative hasn't been used in vaccines since 2001 but it is used in some flu vaccines. So it's always a good idea to ask if thimerosal is in your flu shots.

Can you clarify this? It contradicts itself. Do you mean hasn't been used in most vaccines?

Sorry about that. I should have worded that better. Thimerosal used to be in childrens vaccinations like diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP), hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Those same vaccinations no longer have thimerosal in them. From my research, there are still some flu vaccines that might have thimerosal in them.
