"Google's definition of genocide": Something really bugged me about my last encounter online: Google's new Truth Algorithm. ( conspiracy )

submitted 2015-06-01T04:14 by salvia_d

In one of my last encounters online a user made the following comment :

Google defines genocide as:

"the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation."

After my initial shock of someone giving what google's definition of genocide is to make a point, I promptly replied that "according to the definition of genocide as stated by the UN" (sorry about the off site link, i just happened to phrase it better there than I did here on VOAT - follow the links if you would like to know more).

What really bugged me was what this implies. Are we going to see this more often, statements like "according to google's definition of" historical and political accounts. Are we going to encounter users that don't even bother to go to any source material, in this case the UN, which has been largely responsible for adopting the word 'genocide' after world war 2.

Is this just about controlling information? Or is this some kind of business decision by google wanting to pull out of the search space, because I can't see them being a valuable search engine if their is going to be conflict between them and the source material.

What do you people think?

EDIT:

Ooops! I forgot to provide a link to what google's truth algorithm is - Here is a search for it .
