No, but allegedly there are those in power who want to return Israel to full control of the area to the Jewish to fulfill prophecies laid out in Revelations. They want the Jewish to have control of the Temple on the Rock because only then can the second coming of Christ can happen. The Jewish probably don't believe this as they do not claim Jesus as their messiah, but they do want control of this area.

I'm not sure why they want to bring the second coming of Christ as that kicks off the even of Rapture (the end of times) according to the Bible, but it is a damning theory.
