Projecting a front of "If you try and get onto a plane with bad intent then we'll stop you.", it doesn't matter how effective they are, or in this case how ineffective they are.

Because any time someone says "Well they haven't even got a 5% success rate and their record for stealing items from flyers is legendary and backed up by a hell of a lot of evidence, especially medication." then you get the agency saying "Well if you want to get rid of us then people will perceive planes once again as a viable attack path, do you want to put hundreds of people at risk?".

This is of course a logical fallacy and the reason why the people publishing the test findings being labelled as dangerous individuals because they poke holes in the imaginary defence that they pretend to rely on but in practise use literally anything else because the TSA is the worst run organisation since the 21st Cat Brigade.

if you go into the thread on r/conspiracy they have links to his other post where he kind of outs himself as a wanker.

Still lots of good convo about the other companies they use in the thread.

Dantastic77

tpp is about to put your "way of life" in all kinds of fuckery, so keep not caring while you can.

dis_is_my_account

I usually don't like linking to SRD but this post was proven fake. All the more reason to not blindly accept facts.

I searched a little bit and the only other link I found recapping it seems to be topmindsofreddit. It looks to be a copy paste from the SRD thread too. Screenshots down in the comments since it looks like some of OP's comments were deleted.

It seems he has changed the website now and left articles about the whole prank. I managed however, to find an FVX Research who happens to have 5 cessna registered with the FFA though. Trolling hard, or does an FVX Research already exist? Or is the guy who was saying it was just a prank a shill attempting to over up being exposed.

http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/Name_Results.aspx?Nametxt=FVX+RESEARCH&sort_option=1&PageNo=1

Dantastic77

They listed a bunch of other companies for people to look into that are supposedly shill companies for people to look into.

The guy might be a troll, but he got the ball rolling on exposing(moreso) this shit, if its possible.

It's not the secrecy that bothers me it's the plain, utter incompetency. These fuckers are supposed to be (in part) in charge of your safety.

EllenPaosEgo

Even better is the bio of the first guy "with 20+ years of industry experience". There is no way that guy is old enough to have been working there 20+ years.

I'm not too knowledgable about whois and domains, but is it possible this website is some sort of joke/hoax setup by a random person on the internet? What evidence have we that this is actually associated with the company or with the NSA? The registry says it is associated with a domain that has NSA in the name, and that address has a scary text note, which might mean the NSA is legitimately involved... but maybe not? I'm wondering if it is possible that someone like the conspiratard people could pull something like this off after seeing the news article.

The twitter account has only two tweets, both from within the past 18 hours, so it doesn't appear to be an established account with a reputation of being associated with the company. Maybe it is something they or the NSA tossed up, but i don't know, it seems much more sloppy than I would expect.

Edit: Two days later, and I see this http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-man-behind-one-of-the-biggest-trollings-of-rconspiracy-ever

So it would appear that it was appropriate to be cautious.

Lightfromdarkness

But there is a company called fvx research who have five cessnas registered with the FAA. Does that mean the mean the troll set up a website for an already existing company, and if so why didn't they have the website address already in use.

There is also a possibility that the person claiming to have been trolling everyone is a shill trying to throw everyone off the scent.

Edit: I was going to put some info from from the FAA registered planes here but it came out as a jumble after pasting and posting.

Mumberthrax

good questions, and fair points. more information is needed. I was probably too quick to accept the vice article since it conformed to my preconceptions. (so now I feel silly for doing the same thing I was cautioning against). I didn't mean to imply that I thought the spy planes aren't there or that fvx isn't real, just to express caution in assuming the website and Twitter are actually associated with the company.

Lightfromdarkness

yeah I know what you mean, everyone is still trying to put the pieces together and it's best to be cautious, and to be fair I probably would have joined you in assuming it was just a hoax if it hadn't been for the vice piece.

I don't know if you saw any of the ebola stuff last year, I wasn't sure what to think of it. people saying it's a big hoax and they are conditioning everyone with the lime green colour which is all over most ebola videos. if you googled ebola images there was just green everywhere, not so much now, i just tried it but if you google ebola green you'll get the idea of what it was like.

Well anyway, I did like vice, they used to be good with interesting videos, crazy or illegal, it was all good. Then all of a sudden they went on an ebola frenzy, and I thought this is not like vice and the usual stuff they do. Lime green all over the place and guys pulling monkeys apart and eating it, it really seemed out of sorts from the stuff that vice usually gets involved in. Fast forward a little and I found out that Rupert Murdoch had paid $70m for a 5% stake in vice, and not only that but his son James Joined vice's board last November ....exactly around the time vice went ebola crazy. I have never paid much attention to them since, it looks like they are batting for the other team now.

Homo_ludens

Didn't even consider that.

Mumberthrax

It looks like I was correct .

I'm suspecting this was just a troll and not a legitimate PSYOP, but there's no way to know for sure as far as I can see on this one. Still has ramifications for the "image" of conspiracy theorists, but meh.

deadbeef

Have you seen Citizenfour? Snowden actually talks about this fairly early on, minus the fictitious companies. I'm surprised this only made mainstream news back in February.

He mentions how people sat in front of a computer at the NSA can bring up live feeds from surveillance drones all over the country that are just watching people's houses. It's unreal.

Ulluses

Wow, you are on so many lists right now, great work!

nonethewiser

Thanks, I hadn't made the association.

nonethewiser

What's the backstory? What did/does this company do and why do they matter?

Dantastic77

Its supposedly a shill company for fbi shenanigans...

axolotl__peyotl

Awesome fucking post.

belrial

I don't know which is more disturbing. Is it the cover up itself? The obviousness and amateurishness of it? Or the sheer incompetence. Or is it so obvious so they can better hide even more nefarious shit.

When I was a carpenter we would leave obvious easy to fix fuckups so the inspectors would find them and think they were done and not search for hard to fix minor fuckups. This looks to be that caliber of deception.
