Is it just a coincidence that the frog god, kek, who /pol/ has been praying to this whole year was known by Egyptians as a "bringer of darkness"?

derram

They're used to it at this point. They know they control the message.

Take a look at #GamerGate.

Nearly every article says #GamerGate supporters are well known for sending bomb threats, but if you search you'll find that the only bomb threats to happen in relation to GamerGate have been agaisnt pro-GG events.

And, of course, there's articles laying the blame for those on GG supporters as well.

DependasaurusRex

Me too... it is frightening to think we are thought to be some of the best in the world... scary to think of how bad the other ones must be.

Empire_of_the_mind

actually there certainly is a conspiracy there (newswires, that is). But these are not reprints of the same article - newswires are meant to be republished and attributed.

the whole speech was dark though. Just because you are telling the truth doesn't make it any less dark. He focused only on the negative things about this country. That is dark.

If he wanted a less dark speech, he could have tempered the statements with positives about the country.

laikaislost

EDIT: to all the three people who downvoated, care to explain how these quotes didn't make his speech dark? Trash talking the state of the country for over an hour is pretty much the definition of dark.

"Our convention occurs at a moment of crisis for our nation"

That's dark.

"The attacks on our police, and the terrorism in our cities, threaten our very way of life."

That's dark.

the recent images of violence in our streets and the chaos in our communities

That's dark

the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation

That's dark

Decades of progress made in bringing down crime are now being reversed by this Administration’s rollback of criminal enforcement.

That's dark (and a lie)

Homicides last year increased by 17% in America’s fifty largest cities. That’s the largest increase in 25 years. In our nation’s capital, killings have risen by 50 percent. They are up nearly 60% in nearby Baltimore.

That's dark (and misleading since crime is still trending down even with last year's spike)

In the President’s hometown of Chicago, more than 2,000 have been the victims of shootings this year alone. And more than 3,600 have been killed in the Chicago area since he took office.

That's dark (and again misleading since over the last 7.5 years it's still trending down)

The number of police officers killed in the line of duty has risen by almost 50% compared to this point last year.

That's Dark

Nearly 180,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records, ordered deported from our country, are tonight roaming free to threaten peaceful citizens.

That's dark

They are being released by the tens of thousands into our communities with no regard for the impact on public safety or resources.

That's dark

One such border-crosser was released and made his way to Nebraska. There, he ended the life of an innocent young girl named Sarah Root. She was 21 years-old, and was killed the day after graduating from college with a 4.0 Grade Point Average. Her killer was then released a second time, and he is now a fugitive from the law.

That's dark

But to this Administration, their amazing daughter was just one more American life that wasn’t worth protecting.

That's dark

Nearly Four in 10 African-American children are living in poverty, while 58% of African American youth are not employed. 2 million more Latinos are in poverty today than when the President took his oath of office less than eight years ago.

That's dark

Household incomes are down more than $4,000 since the year 2000

That's dark (and cherrypicking data, why 2000?)

Our roads and bridges are falling apart, our airports are in Third World condition, and forty-three million Americans are on food stamps.

That's dark

Not only have our citizens endured domestic disaster, but they have lived through one international humiliation after another. We all remember the images of our sailors being forced to their knees by their Iranian captors at gunpoint.

That's dark

In Libya, our consulate – the symbol of American prestige around the globe – was brought down in flames.

That's dark

ISIS has spread across the region, and the world. Libya is in ruins, and our Ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers. Egypt was turned over to the radical Muslim brotherhood, forcing the military to retake control.

That's dark

Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons. Syria is engulfed in a civil war and a refugee crisis that now threatens the West.

That's dark

these interests have rigged our political and economic system for their exclusive benefit.

That's dark

the laid-off factory workers, and the communities crushed by our horrible and unfair trade deals. These are the forgotten men and women of our country. People who work hard but no longer have a voice.

That's dark

crying mothers who have lost their children because our politicians put their personal agendas before the national good.

That's dark (and has no explanation either)

When innocent people suffer, because our political system lacks the will, or the courage, or the basic decency to enforce our laws – or worse still, has sold out to some corporate lobbyist for cash

That's dark

committing such an egregious crime and getting away with it – especially when others have paid so dearly.

That's dark

the system is rigged against our citizens

That's dark

the crime and terrorism and lawlessness that threatens their communities.

That's dark

our police officers in Dallas were brutally executed

That's dark

IM ONLY HALF WAY THROUGH HIS SPEECH

Don't pretend that his speech wasn't dark. It was absolutely dark. That was dark as fuck. You can enjoy a dark speech, but seriously, don't deny it was dark...

You know what I heard him say? Law and order for all. Hopefully meaning justice and balance where absurd arguments that BlackLivesMatter dont hold weight and the evil queen may be accountable.

RumpRangerRick

Wow, it's almost like they coordinated the use of the word "dark" across multiple headlines...

moneymonkeytoilet

Yeah this blew me away. I even saw articles from reputable newspapers call him a "bullshitter".

Watched the speech and thought there were at least 4 points where anyone anti Trump would have to hold their hands up and go "ok I may not like the guy but that was impressive"

But they burned him. And i'm surprised that i'm surprised. They're basing their view of the speech on a reputation they created themselves.

whatisbestinlife

1Sorry_SOB

Holy fuck! They all take instructions for a central source!

I'm pretty red-pilled but this blows my mind.

ezralv

We saw the same shit with the 'gamers are dead' articles. For the media to do this is completely mundane at this point.

Hell, if you read the leaks when the Clinton email server first became a thing, you can actually see her directing the media personally. Wouldn't be surprised if this "dark" parameter came from her too.

onezeno

That or at least they collude before going to print. But most likely they took talking points from the DNC.

muffalettadiver

They are just Reeeeeeeeeeeeee

TauCeti

I had the impression he was going to reexamine America's role as the world's policeman with America paying for it all.

tchouk

The Gamergate journo mailing list scandal showed that journalist work together to craft narratives even at an amateur video game level.

Of course they do the same thing on a national level over serious issues like the election. Probably have brainstorming sessions or a think-tank or something.

scandalous-goat

Yep, it was the inspiration: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JournoList

EdSnowden

To be fair he's also talked about spending wisely to do this, so he may cut waste and build up the military by spending the same or less.

cynoclast

The media loves trump, and trump loves the media.

If you think anything else about their relationship you've been successfully fooled.

YodaDankfish

They did a bit of a flip flop on him once Bernie dropped out and Hilldog became his only opponent.

TauCeti

Generally good, except the cutting taxes part. Unless he's going to cut military spending right down with it.

Empire_of_the_mind

His very strong comments about "enforcing the law," which he repeated, are being totally missed by the idiotic shit that passes for analysis from our self-appointed media. There was a clear undertone to this that tied into many of his other points. He announced that he was going to ENFORCE LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS and changing of those that are not needed (and are ignored/avoided anyhow). This means abusive police who murder people will be prosecuted. This means bankers who rig rates, rip-off customers, collude, launder drug money, and commit fraud will be prosecuted. This means corrupt politicians will be prosecuted for corruption. This means military war-profiteering will be addressed. This means tax dodges and loophole will be address (simplify the tax code = close loopholes that arise from complexity).

The "we will enforce our laws" statements were the key theme in the speech. Consider that concept along with every other topic he brought up and you'll see what is implied. We have many laws and rules that are widely ignored and simply enforcing those laws can provide an enormous amount of change, without having to pass legislation.

not_shadowbanned_yet

lots of spending they can cut.

wrok-wrok

They should have really done something about the lighting.

It was enlightening if anything.

This will backfire.

The media lies.

Reddiggoat

It's almost as if whoever made this video is trying to use its viewers' lack of knowledge about how associated press works in order to paint a narrative.

Sciency

Articlebots, journalists, whats the difference? They're both soulless machines that only do what they're instructed.

DARK DARK DARK

Ladies and gentlemen of the still-thinking populous, we have just witnessed the birth of a new buzzword.

schwanstucker

I know. It is mind-blowing, and we've reached the age of Orwell.

lorlipone

My feelings about this media/establishment collusion are. . .Dark.

TAThatBoomerang

This is actually very powerful. It would be perfect if each headline showed which newspaper it was from so it was verifiable.

ThisIsMyRealName

Just run a Google News search for "trump speech dark." They're all there.

XPS

Would be interesting to run a world cloud across media sites for each story. Working backwords to see what criteria they were told to parrot in some automated way and then have that as an output.

whisky_cat

I could program this, but it'd require a good deal of time and compensation to do it correctly. I believe it would be a powerful tool when auditing MSM news for journalistic integrity (let's be real, there won't be any integrity).

XPS

Part I can't think how to do is mapping the story or content items to each other across sites. Unless you just do it a the site level as a whole but then it would only work for the main huge news events. Or using some algorithm to score the headlines and group those which match over a certain percentage.

whisky_cat

I think it'd have to track "similar" themed articles for the duration of a week, as they will be edited and manipulated from the day they are published. After a week or so, each page analysis would be archived categorically with its "sibling" articles and evaluated for duplicated verbiage.

Ultimately, if a story is on half a dozen or more MSM outlets with strong consistency, you could correlate that it's probably a narrated news event, whether it be Government or Corporate sponsored (though there's not really a difference, I suspect CIA-sponsored articles wouldn't be much trouble to augment at least, likewise big pharma and Monsanto).

YodaDankfish

I'll compensate you with funny youtube videos and upvoats if that works for you.

luckyguy

It would also be interested to watch them move in time and figure out which ones move in lockstep. A word frequecy graph would probably do more.

TAThatBoomerang

That would be very interesting. And very, very powerful. I have zero programming skills, but I imagine that there are people more than capable of doing this if they just have the idea presented to them.

cyks

How many red herrings are you looking for?

TAThatBoomerang

I say that because this is only useful to show people who don't believe the media is controlled. However, those kind of people are likely to be very resisting to these sort of things. So it would be easy for many to instinctively use "oh, no sources, someone just made it up" as an excuse to not have to bear with the turmoil that would come with changing your entire world view. But the less "outs" there are, the more likely it is for the person to actually consider it being the case.

(Sorry not a native speaker, I don't know what "red herring" means.)

ltmyndonos

red herrings modernly are called false flags. long story short, red herrings(aka smoked) were used to train hunting dogs, and then when they went on real hunts, a red herring would sometimes throw off newer hunting dogs.

schwanstucker

I watched the speech. It covered all his platform points and then some. It was full of hope, intelligent commentary, and LOTS of promises, which I think we all hope he'll be able to fulfill.

I watched on C-Span so I wouldn't find myself listening to the "empty talking heads."

ambissinistro

You mind linking the speech?

schwanstucker

I think you mean the full speech, on YouTube. Here it is .

ThisIsMyRealName

LOTS of promises, which I think we all hope he'll be able to fulfill.

This is every election ever. I think he'll win, and I think he'll do well, but don't get your hopes up too much. El presidente always ends up with more on his plate than they bargain for.

schwanstucker

I totally agree. He very likely can't fulfill everything. I have some hope, though. The very best is that he's not a free trader, and supports LEGAL immigration only.
