it's been said for ages that honeybees are massively declining. i have absolutely no idea if that's true or not. i remember the inconsequential africanized honeybee scare of the 90s. and i heard that honeybees are dropping like flies.

i live in central alaska, where there are 25 species of not really eusocial bumblebees (they just crap off all day and breed like regular wild animals. not like eusocial queen with drones and 99% non reproducing female task force), and there are all sorts of other pollinators like a bazillion hoverflies, similar flower flies, some hawkmoths, and, rumored, real actual honest to god hummingbirds. with beaks and bird legs.

so we're not hurting for pollinators.

i got loads of flowers in my arctic desert. and loads of honeybees. with the darker orange bughair and the transparent butts. not the striking yellow and black and red lazy ass bum bumblebees. european honeybees. they seem to be doing very well and i have not ever seen a shortage of them, or any other pollinator.

and on this note, in my area is a purportedly critically endangered carrion beetle. guess what. human and animal activity uplifts these severely endangered beetles. whenever there's not so much human or pet activity, their population dwindles. when people move nearby and bring cats to produce rotting dead small animals, the beetles flourish.

so i'm thinking

some bullshit is afoot here.
