News media often have queued-up hypothetical scenarios so that they can release them immediately if said scenario pans out. This has happened a few times in the past. I recall a similar hoopla when some important new source accidentally published one about, I believe it was, the winner of one of the 2008 or 2012 presidential race several days too early. They had two articles ready to go, accidentally published one, and the conspiratards went crazy.

They later published an article about why they do that, and things settled down. Because it really wasn't a big deal to begin with.

Except now I can't find references to that situation. It's really hard to google obscure news with nonspecific terms from 4-8 years ago. Anyone else's memory want to back me up on this?
