DB2 can't handle pulling 500k records at one go? I'm pretty sure my tables in MySQL could pull that without sending it to hell. I normalize but not crazy.

That's the thing isn't it ... A bunch of Indians coded the software ... I've seen lots of their code recently in GitHub and while itbworks, fuck trying to debug it. 10k sounds about right actually. However it sounds too cheap so jack up the price and they'll trust you.

The software might be crap but the data is in the server and a SQL wrangler will get your reports within 2 weeks. Less actually but let's have some leeway for crappy table setups.
