They say the the added radiation from those particles only adds up to an extra dental x-ray per year. That may be right as long as those particles are outside your body but if you ingest such a particle there is no skin to protect your vital organs. Even alpha and beta particles are dangerous if directly inside your body, that's how smoke causes cancer.

I don't know anything about Fukushima other than I remember when it happened, but recently I've heard talk that it was a much bigger deal than we were made aware of and actually should have been an extinction level event that was only avoided by some inexplicable "miracle."
