How do you keep it clean and censorship free? Don't Mod let others handle that. No offense but mods from any of those subs should just pass the torch. You guys had your chance and fucked it all up.

I was wondering why my post was removed:

Don't assume that "conspiracies" or "conspiracy theorists" are all crazy. Just like any group -- there are people on the fringe. But, most of us are in the middle. A lot of the conspiracy information being posted should lead to more questions. That's what it's all about. Asking questions. Trying to find the truth. Unfortunately, this upsets the world view of some people and they get very angry.

As this site grows bigger you're going to start feeling pressure from people in /news to "keep the conspiracy nuts out". Many of these people will be paid agents who are there to spread disinformation. It is their job to make sure that people get a filtered version of the news and that the only real story is the 'official' one that is being presented on CNN. These people have a sock puppet army that they use to make it look like they have grass roots support for their cause. One guy will post something and 300 of his friends (or alternate accounts) will upvote it.

Look at things from a skeptical point of view. But, at the same time, just because a story does not follow the mainstream narrative doesn't mean it's false. There could be hidden information. The only way to get to the truth is to dig and explore and ask questions. It's like a big brainstorming session. People will be throwing ideas out there. Not all of the will be correct. But, somewhere in the fray is the truth.

Don't shut this out before it has a chance to happen. As a moderator of a big subverse you are a gatekeeper. You are in a position of power. You can block points of view. You can limit discussion. You can prevent alternative viewpoints from being heard. That's what happened over at Reddit. The mods all work together in lockstep to push the mainstream media's opinion. It's probably also been compromised by CIA or government agents who's job is to control the discussion. You have to resist letting these people take over your forums and censor conspiracy topics.

I really dont see how this is Conspiracy related

ForksandGuys

Delete?

if your done getting some advice it would be polite!

I think it's related because one of the biggest complaints everyone had about Reddit is how /r/news and /r/worldnews censored conspiracy topics. I think it's good that a mod is stopping by. Hopefully, we can prevent censorship here this time around.

Oh, that was you. Well, no offence taken I guess. As to your question: Clear up that sidebar with the outdated mod nominations (in case of this verse)and write a bold encouragement for people to ask and discuss things such as policies and content with the mods via PM. You cannot act on what you can't see, and what when you don't act you can't improve the place.

From my personal moderation experience, the reverse is also quite helpful, i.e messaging users to clear up things, tell them why their contributions were eliminated and perhaps even asking for feedback if you've observed someone and come to value their input.

Cheers.

Cheers on being mature about it Retro. Forks, listen to this poster, they seem to have experience. Edit1: Maybe don't "call out" posters like that anymore, it seems like a policy fostering a divide between moderation and users.

ForksandGuys

I don't moderate /v/conspiracy , but thanks

Ah, sorry. My bad.
