Only to be replied to by a 21 day account that got 55 votes for ( https://voat.co/v/whatever/1484385/7207361) ) this little bit of fallacy.

Look through that thread if you need more proof of the folowing claim, its everywhere.

We are getting mindfucked hard right now. Fullblown psyop bullshit. These big posts with all the up/downvotes are simply a 'loud noise' to get everyone looking. The real purpose is to get these sleeper accounts and their 21 day old pals up to voting rights, and theyre setting up strawmen (in the form of the most offensive posts they can manage) for the sleepers to knock down, so we all start chanting "one of us, one of us," ect.

Last time I posted on this topic, I begged you guys not to go witch hunting. Today I'm telling you I don't really care what you do. We are too nice here, and we are going to lose our digital refuge again as a result.

Whatever the next site is that we all meet up on someday, just remember not to make that mistake again. Downvotes are there to keep the scum out.

No worries, your situation is understandable to me. Its the users that farmed points for 14 days to get a few hundred votes, then left for ~18 months that bug me. Even I took about 3 months off of voat a while back, sometimes you just need a break :)

I agree, there is a particular 10 day account that seems like the straw man to me who is consistently upvoted after posting what seems like generic bullshit posts. (typical stereotype crap that people outside voat think goes on here)

You and @BentAxel were pretty sharp to catch him the way you did. Notice he referred to the term regressive as this guy you linked to did? I don't want to sound batty but I really don't recall many long-time voaters using this term.

Good catch! If you happened to see my last post in this sub about VTT users, I've been building a bit on that since then. I was playing around with some very basic analytic tools (basically choose 2 web addresses, and check for reoccurring patterns of letters or words in relation to username headers), trying to find patterns in user word-choice, right around the time the "page 19 change" happened (unrelated to me, im pretty sure). I wish I had started on it earlier, because I was begining to get a clearer picture of which accounts play a little too nicely with each other. Too bad I'm a shit programmer, or I might have got something out of it besides newfound suspicions...

The funny thing is, if not for the VTT use, I never would have been able to find any patterns, because vocal tics are far harder to control than actual writing or typing patterns. I think subconsciously thats probably what made some of those accounts seem weird to me in the first place. After all, nobody talks quite the same way they write.

If anyone is doing that they are completely tarded. It's really pretty easy to get 100+ CCP just posting comments. What you are suggesting would make it harder, creates several steps which aren't needed.

But it could be automated, and well disguised. The people that sell upvotes arent manually entering the logins for each account and clicking the arrow, they just script it. Problem is, without cover, scripting is highly observable. So they cover their subtle scrips with far more blatant scipts, and most of the population doesn't blink.

If their goal is to create accounts which have VOATing rights all of that is not only unneeded, it draws attention to the entire process. You're suggesting that they spent money on bots which undermine their secret. If they are doing that they are world class stupid.

My guess is they focussed bot-platform-development on reddit and their bot-platform isn't that easily changed to Voat with different algorithms. That's why it's easy to spot. In time they will fix those flaws. So kick them off asap.

Always look for the ~1.4 year old accounts with practically no activity. Every fucking one of them is a shill account. It's kinda scary how many accounts they set up after the Pao diaspora.

I guess they just wanted to see if Voat would become a thorn in their sides. (hint: it did :-)

Its kinda tricky when the admins removed access to all comments older than page 19. I cant even verify that you or I have been posting longer than the last month. They killed voat last week, and it makes me really, really sad. It feels like losing a pet to a wild animal.

I want the next site to be:

1)invite only 2)open source 3)generally super fucking hard to get up/down vote privileges 4)not hosted by cloudflare 5)Hosted from servers based in the netherlands. 6)Mod free 7)One account creation per IP address (sort of like faccebook does with phone numbers)

Voat was a good trial run, but we can do better. Every time we learn a little more.

I get that part, I just meant you cant determine user activity past 19 pages of their comments, as of a recent site change. page 19 of yours goes back 1.1 months, and mine goes about the same. Luckily my best and worst comments all go back to about the full age of my account, but I could have said some silly shit 8 months ago for downvotes, and pulled a legendary afk until last month. Either way, my profile would look the same.

Whats really weird is that I can go back further than 19 on my own comments, just with not other users, which tells me that the change is not about server costs, its about covering something up, or shifting attention somewhere else.

Funny, I never tried looking up how long other users comments are available for and, yeah, that sucks balls.

Still, all things being equal, old accounts with very little activity are shill accounts. And even if they aren't a shill account those users have been around for a while and never contributed. Fuck them too.
