Mumberthrax

I'm about 7 minutes in on watching this video so far.

I do not believe the earth is flat. I also think this video is great for entertainment reasons, and for sort of meta-educational reasons. Thank you for sharing it.

Empire_of_the_mind

light refraction, dude. light refraction.

shmegegy

it's beyond ridiculous.. I can observe satellites according to preditctions.. so can you. do they fall off the edge and magically appear on the other side?

Narhem

Occam's Razor is actually "the idea that has to make the least assumptions is the most likely to be correct". The way its used in the video is pointless since it doesn't compare how many assumptions we have to make or each side.

Narhem

but what would 1+1=2 prove? I am saying there is no real math in this videos

If I measure things out and do a calculation based on my observations of a guess of were things should be in say 1 day then observe 1 day later that it matches my calculations then its a valid point of math. Math is non-bias.

I am not attacking you just questioning whether you can come to the conclusion the earth is not round if you accept gravity.

Just making conversation to try to see your side, but it seems like there is too much "believe me and everyone else" going on here.

Narhem

I'm saying the visual aids are useless. I want mathematical calculations, he says "something" doesn't add up, but if you do the calculations yourself they all add up. I did in physics class, he never proves that the earth cannot be ball shaped. I am sorry If you cannot tell the difference between proof and suggestion, his refutations of the earth spinning because stars make circles is even more of a joke. Math isn't wrong.

Let alone if earth wasn't round then gravity would make the earth collapse onto itself until it is. Do you believe in gravity?

Motivation for creating something will create biases, motivation for making something is important.

Okay the horizon at eye level is also stupid because planes do not fly very high so the angle is not very large and hard to notice, we notice things based on relativists.

No offense a lot of this is stuff that would sound like it makes sense, but provides not facts or examples. Just diagrams. Again if YOU want to provide examples that would be good. If over half the film is BS and even you say so then that is a testament with what the creator of this film thinks.

If the content producer actually wanted to make people believe he would start the film with factual content and not examples with no real basis is reality. The content is meandering to people who already believe.

measuring the circumference agrees with the actual distance. indulging your ridicule, where is the edge of this flat earth?

Narhem

I will watch this stupid thing just to prove the points are supid

  1. "seeing is not believing" shows green screens. so we shouldn't believe the pictures we are "shown". Seriously? I am pretty sure if NASA is willing to lie about pictures they would be pumping out cool looking photos to get as much funding as possible.

  2. "66.6degrees" devils number brought up. Seriously?

  3. There few pictures of space because its hard to take good pictures.

  4. Oblate spheroid by only a few miles pictures would not capture this well, especially from space.

Honestly not even 10 minutes in and not a valid point in brought up. OP if you actually believe this tell me what your most believable and provable points are. Not referencing other conspiracy theories.

How about being able to fly around the world? A lot of countries look smaller/bigger on a map because you cannot show a sphere on 2d paper. Look at a globe.

HappyExile

fine, ill watch it.

shmegegy

Why would I watch a video when I can do an actual experiment? Are you saying that youtube>science? LOL

HappyExile

This is one thing I feel totally safe not watching before dismissing.

shmegegy

LOL.. butthurt? I'm a scientist. Why don' tyou actually deal with the objective experiment that you can repeat yourself. Are you saying science is not a valid method?

shmegegy

I've done the experiment myself, and I'm satisfied that the planet is not flat. This is a joke a hoax, made to ridicule you.. enjoy.

shmegegy

Greeks proved the earth was round thousands of years ago using a stick in a hole in the ground. maybe you might do the same and cure yourself of this pseudoscientific nonsense.
