I thought money was the mark of the beast anyway.

John of Patmos was most likely using gematria ; and as such, 666 was a code for Nero Caesar. The mark we would all be wearing was the coins in our pockets, which at that time wore the name and face of Nero.

No. The concept of "on their hands, between their frontlets / eyes" is a cultural idiom of the time meaning they support it with the work of their hands / share their ideology. I.e. just like tefillin. It was not meant to be taken literally, and the literal practice of tefillin is an outward expression meant to remind one to keep torah in mind, and work to achieve it's goals.

The text reads that it will be a choice, not both. Tech to do this with implants and scanners is already available. Prophecy can be difficult to recognize in the details. We may have to wait and see.
