My family kinda figured this one out a few years back. We used to live in a city and do the whole city water thing (chlorinated, fluoride, etc...). Then we moved to a more rural area and our water is now drawn from a well on our property. No chlorination (apart from the bi annual well chlorination) and certainly no fluoride. When we moved here the dentist had a little spaz out because of the lack of fluoride in well water and they went so far as to give us a nice huge dose of fluoride pills for the kids to chew daily (for their poor little teefers) because apparently within a few months of drinking well water our kid's teeth were going to crumble into dust and self destruct. A resounding "Oh, fuck that" was uttered and the fluoride tabs were dumped the moment we got the the garbage can. 4 years later the kid's teeth are doing great (amazingly, brushing your teeth actually works just fine!!!).

Your anecdote proves nothing about the efficacy of Fluoride in preventing cavities.

It proved to my family and i that drinking unfluoridated water did not cause the dental break down that we were assured would happen the moment we moved from city to well water.

Do you use fluoride toothpaste?

The actual paper for the first study is here . Its conclusion is: " The results support the possibility of an adverse effect of high fluoride exposure on children’s neurodevelopment. Future research should include detailed individual-level information on prenatal exposure, neurobehavioral performance, and covariates for adjustment."

The last document is far overstated in your comment: It's a cherry picked list of decades old mistakes. If you want to be taken seriously you'll take that one out of your list.

I disagree on your last point. This is something that most people don't know about and is often left out of debates. There is the potential for mass community overdoses (as it routinely occurs, and this list is not complete) and this fact should be considered when weighing the claimed benefits of fluoridation versus the risks.

By the way, not that I mind, but that person stole part of my post from Reddit:

There's a lot more information there. I'm just glad someone else is spreading it. Cheers!
