So what exactly are they sneaking through with this bill? I thought it was just a trade agreement?

If our government has a law that negatively affects a corporations future anticipated profits, they can sue the US. The case will not be tried in a US court. It will be decided by international corporate arbitrators, thereby giving our sovereignty away. This secretly formed treaty has been constructed by large corporations without our representatives. Its a terrible thing that will only hurt the vast majority of people it affects. The terms of the TPP and the TiSA are so secret that drafts of the negotiations are to remain classified for four years or five years, respectively, after the deals have been passed into law. How can laws be enforced against people and governments who are not allowed to know what was negotiated?

They didn't pass the TPP. They passed the Trade Promotion Authority bill, which allows Congress to "fast track" the voting on the TPP.

Basically, they passed a bill which forces Congress to do simple yes/no votes on international treaties without the ability to amend or filibuster them.

I sure hope we can count on Obama to veto this shit!
