“Our victim is biracial herself, so race was not a motivator in this violent attack,” said Detective Cruz Hernandez with the Rowlett Police Department."

That just seems like an idiotic statement to me. The video is short and lacks a lot of context, but we can all see that this is hardly a 'fight'. This is an outright assault. Maybe it was racially motivated, maybe it was just some random after school beef... even still, saying that the victim was biracial so it couldn't have been a hate crime is beyond stupid. Hate has no boundaries, last I checked anyway.

Race may or may not have led to the altercation -- all that matters is to take the offending perp off the streets, preferably, permanently.

Savages attack tots and mothers, and ought to have their freedom curtailed.

Whether race had anything to do with it or not, I dont understand the rationale behind the statement this officer made here. He's literally saying that because the victim was biracial the attack couldn't have been racially motivated. Biracials aren't immune to racism, infact they often get it from both directions as they're stuck in the middle.

That's the article writer's argument (in the OP's link); but, I would like to think we're smarter than that -- focus on the problem and arrest that bitch-ass motherfucker.

I hear your frustration at the guy's logic, but let's treat this like a word problem and drop/ignore the extraneous information (which detracts from the bigger problem).

The primary issue on hand is that an unprovoked assault happened, of which a potentially lethal outcome could have occurred. The perp is still on the loose, and needs to be apprehended to answer for her purported crime. Let's hope the capture can be made without further incident, and the matter cleared up (was the sitting person / victim verbally provoking the assailant? Was there any previous altercation or encounter that escalated? Etc.).

We can't just drop the extraneous stuff though, it could be indicative of a bigger problem... There was more than one perp there as far as I can see too. She had a group of accomplices, telling her to get the baby, dancing around while watching the fight. Nobody was trying to stop it either. If the skin colors were reversed, this would instantly be considered a hate crime and we all know it.

Ultimately though, I shouldn't even know about this enough to care. The media just told me I should.... But are these stories coming up so frequently lately organic, or are they being cherry picked to stir shit up? I think it's probably the latter, and maybe acknowledging black on white hate crime is a bit of a taboo.

Don't know @shagguire dude. I'm more of the "buy a firearm you're comfy with, and about 300 to 500 rounds and take the 'wait and see' approach".
