yaya, there not "the bankers" so who cares, just keep watching tv

Cutsprocket

Well at least one country got it right

slamMcButtneck

That's cold

Stavon

It's about time to imprision banksters for their crimes.

GizaDog

Can we get those judges to the US? I think we have some here that need to be jailed!

pandabill

While that is a good first step, they should not be jailed, they should be executed.

I hope one day the filthy parasites will pay for their crimes.

immibis

I hope you also think things like murder should be punishable by execution, because otherwise we have some inverted priorities here.

Kimmybjonsson

Hooray! WTG, Iceland!!

Kimmybjonsson

Hooray! WTG, Iceland!!

Kabuthunk

And people keep on laughing at me when I say Iceland is a good place to look to if you're looking for an example of less corruption.

Never understood why. Hell, right from when Bobby Fischer was allowed to live there after that whole trainwreck, I figured it had to be a pretty open place.

lawofchaos

I hope I'm not naïve in saying this but I want to move to Iceland and live the rest of my days worshipping Odin and being happy.

errihu

I thought they christianized? Although if Asatru is a thing over there, I might just go. They have really good quality wool, too.

New_years_day

I'll raise a pint to that, brother!

poop1989

This just shows you how corrupt our government is. Not one person went to jail after the stock market crash

zveda

The rest are hiding in UK and US and refusing Iceland's extradition requests.

Bainshie

Source? I looked up your claims, and the closest I could find was Sigurdur Einarsson, who had minor delays due to Iceland having no extradition agreements with anyone else, however he was one of the 7 mentioned above.

Or are sources disrupting the circle jerk?

COUSCOUS

oh look, someone else that is sucking corporate cock for their shekels. Tell me, you like the current economic system? you like bankers being fraudulent? How about you go back to you own circle jerk cretin.

zveda

Ok here are some links: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008%E2%80%9311_Icelandic_financial_crisis#Arrests_by_UK_Serious_Fraud_Office -- note this case has already been dismissed and these guys are gonna get away with everything for now at least https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008%E2%80%9311_Icelandic_financial_crisis#Scrutiny_of_Icelandic_business_leaders -- "Reportedly, all of those under scrutiny are now rarely seen in public and some have apparently left the country." http://www.businessinsider.com.au/iceland-has-hired-an-ex-cop-bounty-hunter-to-go-after-the-bankers-that-wrecked-its-economy-2012-7

Also most likely a lot of these top bankers have friends in high places and so manage to keep their names out of the news. Of course this doesn't mean they are innocent - just ask all those UK pedophiles who were squeaky clean for decades, and even now most of them cannot be named.

brbpierogies

Imagine that. Jailed for fraud! The fact that we even have the phrase "Too big to fail" is nauseating.

WhoToldYouThat

"Too big to fail" is synonymous with " Too big for the gov. (or people) to regulate effectively".

Peglius

yea the banks basically just have a yearly budget line that reads "fraud fines" and just go on as if nothing is wrong

pm_me_5bucks

These "fraud fines" are laughable. What this basically means is that the government is allowing them to rob the people as long as they give the government their cut.

Orbitrix

yea its always painful when this is pointed out as something 'extraordinary', as if this shouldn't be the normal punishment for such transgression.
