They don't sound similar at all. I suppose they would if you were biased enough and your ((emotions)) got in the way.

blackguard19

Yeah they don't sound similar at all, that's the entire fucking point genius.

theoldguy

So why not compare the sounds of the Apollo moon landing to a thunderstorm, or mating gerbils? What was the point, to expect they'd send somebody who'd squeal like a frightened girl?

blackguard19

To illustrate what audio from an actual adrenaline filled, tense, and dangerous situation sounds like compared to audio from a goofy hoax.

Not to mention you can't even hear the reverse thrust engine firing, which is preposterous in itself.

theoldguy

The bobsled guy had to raise his voice to be heard over the wind, also his voice was trembling from the vibrations of the sled over the rough ice. And there's a hiss in the lunar video which could easily be an engine.

fremar

can we hear sound in space ?

then again , the lack of emotion in the voices of the astronauts while landing on the moon for the first time in human history ...

blackguard19

I've always been under the understanding that sound can't travel in a vacuum but in this case that doesn't apply since the 10,000 lb reverse thrust engine was directly behind the astronot which means the sound and vibrations had the LEM and air within the LEM and the space suits as media through which to propagate. Yet you hear no vibrations, not a hint of nervousness, etc. despite their being in an untested environment using an untested engine when not a single astronot could successfully land the simulator lander on earth a single time.

fremar

they used an engine that needs air to combust in a vacume ... the lack of excitement and nervousness is very telling indeed.

blackguard19

Yeah and even according to NASA the combustion was so corrosive that the engines could never be tested, so they go all that way and spend all those hours on the moon knowing that when they try to liftoff they're taking a leap of faith that the engine is even going to fire correctly.

fremar

rockets work fine in an atmosphere ... if you would fire a rocket in space you would turn around 360° into infinity & beyond ! ( buzz lightyear style ) they never went there . it was all part of the program . ( one world order after an alien threat ) werner von brauns tombstone

Yeah the VA belts are really just the beginning of the radiation problem as has been admitted by NASA. If you're on the fence you would really enjoy this documentary, it really leaves little if no doubt. One of the best in my opinion and I think the point made with the analogy with the bobsled team is brilliant.

Hour 1: analysis of lunar photography

Part 2: discussion of radiation and other dangers of human space travel

Part 3: history of the Apollo program

With comments from experts in different fields including the manufacturer of the Hasselblad camera used on the Apollo missions. Watch the one clip I linked to with this link about the bobsled team.

blackguard19

From the documentary What Happened On The Moon which I highly recommend anyone watch all three hours of.
