I used to live 5 miles from the border. I was stopped once in the middle of nowhere, in the mountains, while taking pics. They asked me what I was doing and i said "TAKING PICS" as i had the camera still in my hand. Then they said something about being a wiseass and drove off.

My wife was pulled over at midnight by one for "driving too slow". Keep in mind, this was a very rural area (4 people per square mile) and the highway at night has deer/bear/elk/moose etc. Anyone going the speed limit has a deathwish.
