Many cases of warehouse livers and unattended children are ignored in large cities. It isn't unusual for that situation to be ignored.

So many things here are suspicious of master tenants of Ghost Ship. A warehouse fire that killed 36 people. Many lived there. The Master-tenant were raising 3 kids there, left that night due to loud rave type event so they were spared. Reports of babysitters saying the kids regularly missed school and the children had lice infested hair. One twitter user even reported that kids told the authorities "Thank you for us getting us out of there" This blog sums up the dark underbelly of Ghost Ship very well IMO. Seems like many things were ignored by authorities in terms of child welfare and the well-known fire hazard of the Ghost Ship Warehouse.
