the military certainly does not take the best of our population, so many manlets join, ya our special forces and navy seals have high standards, but most guys ive met that went into military are shorter than me, and im only 5'11" on top of that they didnt do anything interesting, they just worked on hummers and were auto mechanics or cooks. There are tons of non violent roles in the military where you are just doing grunt work crap.

Military wants able bodied people according to their job, loyal to their superior officers... Beyond that, it would be politics. True there are logistical considerations, but the military would use anything at all tgat could achieve a means they could "profit" from.
