What do you define as spam? I believe the sidebar should be clear that "spam" is defined as advertising or somesuch which empowers any mod to be very clear on why a submission or comment or worthy of removal.

Hey I'm a libertarian socialist with almost a decade of activity on that other site. I've been on voat for over 2 years, and I contribute mostly to /v/politics , /v/conspiracy , /v/worldnews , and /v/whatever . I also happen to be a mod of /v/soapboxbanhammer for reasons I may never fully comprehend.
I'll mod with a passive approach and treat others as peers, not subjects. I believe a mod should simply protect the website by removing illegal content that might be posted. It should be up to the voaters to choose for themselves what reaches the front page. I believe in freedom of expression for the voat community, because it is only through open communication that we can actually learn from each other. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm sometimes afk for days at a time, and we've seen in the past how brigades have flooded /v/conspiracy with spam, so it would be comforting for me to know that one or two other goats are around in such an incident, however unlikely.

Honestly, this sub needs @system moderation as of 23,000 subscribers ago. Otherwise its just one power mod away from a shitstorm, from any real or imagined grievance.

and BTW, if you want some sanity or piece of mind in your choices, look through applicant's posting history and what they moderate if anything. Avoid left leaning moderators at all costs, they only cause problems that normal up and down votes should solve.

the main thing a moderator should do is clean up spam when it blows in and double check the CCS works the same in both light and dark modes for all pages. that takes diligence, especially when the code base gets updated.
