Only the demented can believe that a simple painter can be allowed to found his own party, win the elections and become a dictator. In the whole history of humanity no genuine, independent person was able to do this, and still cannot.

its not as simple as that, like all of us, he also undervent some character development through his life, such as participating in ww1, being wounded, the defining moments and realities of his era that shaped his political views and so on. 'a simple painter' is too simplistic view to hold, reality is (infinitely) complex.
