Whatever query you submit to Google, the only results you get are from Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, while independent social networks and forums are invisible. Even if you ask a simple question about movies, you get only IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes links, but independent sites like Metacritic are invisible. Isn't it amazing that the fucking government doesn't give a fuck about freedom of speech and information? The same government who made bribing legal by calling it lobbying.

You are only fooling yourself. Google has lengthy boardroom discussions and exhaustive analytical processes for every single decision. Big corporations can not survive a week without at least 90% of their operations being deliberate.

It was during the election. I doubt its the same now. But right around a year ago you could type each letter up to "crooked hillar" and it would give you suggestions but none of them "crooked hillary" but even worse. When you got all the way to "crooked hillar" it would offer no suggestions at all. It completely refused to suggest the phrase crooked hillary no matter what.

I tested this on multiple accounts and while logged out.

The problem isn't so much shills are much as it is fanboys. Everyone on voat is so quick to shout "shill!", but I don't think it's as complicated as that. We have a lot of people here who love their services, who love their convenience, and it makes it hard to genuinely swap away from things.

Take the Google Chrome alternative, Iridium. They've pulled out most of the Google code (Good), but haven't offered an alternative to the features which they ripped out. There's no bookmark sync, they do weird shit like disable cookies, and their default search is "Qwant"; which is fucking garbage for results. These are conveniences that people want to have, and make the web-quality of life better.

I use a Chromium-based browser, because certain addons which make it easier for me to avoid OTHER Google services, such as youtube. An extension called "switcheroo", automatically replaces youtube with hooktube (even in scripts!) on everything I visit so that I don't give YouTube anything, and I still use their bandwidth.

What other alternative there is? Google's algorithm and db is really really good, it is really hard to move away without a better search engine. Bing and Yandex is closer but I'm pretty sure Bing censors too and Yandex is more suitable for queries in Russian language.
