Devin Patrick Kelley, who recently killed 26 at a church in Sutherland Springs, TX, was dishonorably discharged from the Air Force in 2014 for assaulting his wife and child. He was therefore prohibited from purchasing and owning firearms , yet he was still able to obtain a Ruger AR-556 rifle from gun shop .

There was another infamous breakdown of the NICS system a couple years ago: Dylann Roof was able to purchase a Glock handgun months before he shot up a church in Charleston, SC.

The FBI says its background-check system failed, mistakenly allowing the man who allegedly opened fire inside a South Carolina church last month to purchase the gun he used in the rampage.

"We are all sick that this has happened," FBI Director James Comey told a small group of reporters in Washington today. "We wish we could turn back time."

I just commented the same thing over on re*** and people are downvoteing me, The gun shop most likely told him check no on everything as I've been told so they could get that sale. And now NICS failed as usual to actually do a check.

Unlikely. Regardless what he filled out on the Form 4473, it would have been verified against NCIS to complete the sale. Either, NCIS failed, or they are begging the BATFE to shut them down and put them all in prision.

All these failures demonstrate is that more laws to prohibit gun possession and gun use will do nothing at all to discourage criminals from using guns to commit crimes. Only law-abiding citizens obey the gun laws, and law-abiding citizens are not the problem.
