how so?

You go against them, you get a gun. Make friends with a few criminals for that specific reason. Gun control can never, ever get criminal guns. They have them, they'll sell them.

Runaway-White-Slave

Fuck that, what happened to owning firearms, what happened to having a healthy dog letting you know when intruders get near? I totally agree with a 'deadman's switch' and a massive trove of insurance files, at the same time, kill a motherfucker who tries to come kill you.....

Yeah I realize Soros type people could, and probably have hired real mercenaries, retired special forces from a whole world of countries to choose from, at least make him earn his damn pay.....

Yes, information warfare is a bitch, but defences are necessary.

kill a motherfucker who tries to come kill you.....

This is not as easy as you'd think. The pros will be stalking you digitally and at a physical distance for months before the ambush/hit is even designed. They'll know your schedule, any random habit patterns etc. I'd say owning a gun will likely work against you if a wet work team gets you as an assignment -- easier to make it look like a suicide.

These people train for every outcome, so the best defence is usually info warfare type techniques, avoidance, doing unexpected things. (This is why the classic "double back" worked well if being tailed, before all these omnipotent devices started being used in the field, just like in those old spy flicks.)

Now because of said devices, your best chance to avoid getting offed from a wet works team is actually knowing hacker/system defence techniques. Carrying a gun would only help you against amateurs.

Deadman's switch. This is essential!

If you are investigating high level corrupt players on a global scale, it is no longer a fun marketing game. If you're research starts getting noticed, you MUST setup a Deadman's switch. If you do not login for more than a week, a month or however you configure it, the app will automatically email the group of email addresses you setup.

You could also hint that you have a Deadman's switch in your promo plugs to drum up interest, without tipping your hat to what service it is, so they cannot compromise it then off you.

There are many considerations for each person's situation, but a DMS is essential in this "line of work".

As well, do not make claims about what you are going to release or what you are working on!! You have it but are getting more, keep it a fucking secret! You have it and organizing to release it so it's easy to read/follow, keep it a fucking secret! This is why a DMS is a smart idea.

It does not amaze me that investigators who claim they will release xyz end up dead before releasing it.

do not make claims about what you are going to release... keep it a secret...

Sure, but for those that need to do a bit of "marketing" to get the word out, it does require a fine balance between what you disclose, what names you include, who you contact.

For those that feel wronged in their past, BTW most of these allegations only scratch the surface, these are heinous quasi-crimes against humanity type shit, so some victims would rather die than stay silent.

Ideally people just know, but with all the firehoses of info on the Web, it's difficult just to get a small audience, let alone tell millions of people about your secrets. Only celebrities with an existing following can do the latter.

For what it's worth, Victory of the Light (twitter/kibbitzlaw) pointed out today that people need to come out with all names, loudly, not hide away and meekly try and promote, "I'm going to release xyz in X number of days." That's the problem.

For non celebrities, say < 1,000 followers on twitter, YT etc., it takes a lot of planning and strategy to pull off being a whistle-blower and stay safe.

Why does it amaze you? Under the guise of protecting it's citizens, the alphabet agencies were compromised and have been used to detect these types of signals in all mediums to control info in and out. This also applies to new tech as well. Imagine a genius engineer, builds a new electro-magnetic device that has "over unity" (more energy out than input), s/he sends a message to a friend to come check it out, and well the people that have access to this type of info will already have been notified that they need to shut that individual down. Why would big oil companies want alternate tech getting out to the masses, which is virtually free.

This is all changing now though, slowly but surely.

It doesn't amaze me. I ended the sentence with /s meaning I was being sarcastic.
