Yeah ICD 10 has codes for Spacecraft collision injuring occupant and burned from jet skis on fire.

ICD 9 was replaced because it was not specific enough - poisoning by vaccines could be anything from allergic reaction previously undetected (egg allergy, etc.) to contaminated/improperly made vaccines (see: China Vaccine Scandal ).

Just because there is a planned code for something doesn't mean it has happened, only that someone would like to plan for it.

ICD 9 is out of date. ICD 10 is the current version. They are billing codes for Medicare/Medicaid. It gets complicated, but there are basically codes for every diagnosis or symptom in the book. The first number designates a system or diagnosis with the number after the decimal givings specific details. 978.2 would be vaccine poisoning and the 2 specifying cholera. giving which vaccine. The 948.4 designates allergic reaction to a vaccine, the 4 specifying tetanus. The codes in question are used for accidental administration or overdose, also known as poisoning. There is a poisoning code for Tylenol too.

It's not that I believe the government, it's that I believe in being objective and a chunk of my job is assigning the codes.
