The major difference between shia and sunni that I know of is who they believe should rule them. Sunni believe in a monarchy ruling on behalf of allah. Shia believe in a representative government.

Funny how the governments of democracies of the world support the people who prefer monarchs and attack the ones who would align closer with democracy. Almost makes you think that the democratic governments might be infected by a shadowy controller who wants an end to representative government and to replace it with a single ruling class.
