Attempting to go after semi autos is a losing proposition. Literally every gun that's not an automatic is a semi automatic, so he's ignorant to the fact that he's asking for a complete gun ban.
It's scary that these idiots have so much power over us.

vastrightwing

Yes, I was trying to mansplain to him that his proposition was really an outright gun ban. These law makers don't understand they are destroying society by turning it into a socialist collective. They see themselves as protectors, when really they're blindly drinking the Koolaid. He thinks I'm a nut, of course.

Enigmatic_Continuum

Let's not forget their other angle of making you relinquish your 2nd Amendment rights if you need medical marijuana.

Sk8rminion

This is the whole reason mental institutions where given up on. Declare someone mental, then electrocute them and cut up their brain and pump them full of drugs while keeping them in social isolation until they ARE crazy. Great for getting rid of political rivals, and annoying civilian dissidents. Oh, and make a profit for each person you keep in the system. lefties don't give a shit if they lose their gun rights, they will happily go in to get a happy pill when they are feeling blue. This is just going to prevent people from going to talk to someone who can help them out when things get rough for fear of losing constitutional rights. Not to mention, it adds to the already existing misunderstandings of mental health issues. Not all of our 'mental differences' are equal to going psyco and shooting up schools.

Neo-maxi-zoom-dweeby

Buy guns now - once this shit gets rolling - they will have them all banned within a year.

SYNCORSWIM

The time has come for us to descend upon Washington. There has to be a massive peaceful demonstration.

Maroonsaint

Peaceful demonstrations do nothing

ShowMeYourKitties

Shall not infringe.

monkeytoe101

All they have to do is say you're a perceived threat to take the gun. It a very bad thing

gazillions

Nope. Start pushing pro Palestine EVERYWHERE. It's the fucking jews crawling all over gun control. Return the favor and institute Israel control.

And on Monday start calling every single political rep you have and tell them you are going to actively campaign against them if they vote to amend anything to do with guns.

Asethabalanah

You should read Savitri Devi's "The Lightning and the Sun" From a management perspective it gives amazing insight into what happens when a given power is too accommodating to their opposition. That is to say that when governing, too much Sun and not enough lightning means that despite this fact the people will not revere that leader for the lack of beatdown that they layed upon them, but instead they will simply wait it out and when their time to lead comes they will bring the lightning indiscriminately with no regard for the Sun showed by their previous opposing leadership. It has quite a sad conclusion really as it radicalizes the reader to understand that in the brief moment in which power exists you must use it to completely annihilate your opposition or live on to see them do the same as a result of your mercy shown.

Rellik88

Where in the 2nd does it mention mentally ill?

QualityShitposter

My guess: Trump is calling for this as a way to make everyone realize just how slippery of a slope it is. He knows there will be huge push-back, and a bill won't pass...so he arranges for this issue to be in a bill he wants to kill.

In the meanwhile, he pacifies and wins over "light left" voters.

QueenAlt

I pray that you're right.

Ialwayssaythis

Crazy will be anyone who has ever had any mental health TREATMENT. That is key....

QueenAlt

So I took Xanax when I quit smoking in 2007. My gun rights hinge solely on who is in office.

tendiesonfloor

Xanax

That shit is more dangerous and addictive than smokes.

QueenAlt

I'm off both now for over 10 years, so it's all good.

Maroonsaint

Last time I took Xanax I took 3 and woke up with shit loads of balloons in my room. Apparenty I went around the apt complex taking all of them. Suck the helium lol

Ialwayssaythis

This exactly.

SquarebobSpongebutt

There have been calls to ban anyone under the care of a psychiatrist/psychologist/therapist of any type from being able to posses guns. It would also include anyone ever prescribed any meds for mental issues. So basically you have to choose between getting care for yourself if you ever need it and your gun rights.

This is the reason they are saying Trump gave mentally ill people back their guns, because Congress passed a law repealing an Obama rule about this and he signed it.

Grunge

That's exactly what's going to happen, they will absolutely abuse it. It will come down to "We see you are a registered republican and voted Trump, DENIED"

1ArmedTRex

Continually moving the line to what is deemed a violation. I believe that with PA medical cannibis law it is a violation, and they can infringe and deny your access to exercise your 2nd amendment right.

myvoicefromhell

I believe the premise is that even medical weed is technically still federally illegal so the feds won't let you have a gun if you are currently engaged in the criminal activity of weed use. It will take awhile, but I firmly believe that weed is going to be legal federally (eventually) and this aspect of a gun background check will disappear.

Enigmatic_Continuum

While I understand your thinking, it's not proper because cc permits are only recognized in the state they're issued in, so the feds should have no say over anything unless cc permits are recognized in every state no matter where it was issued.

FeminismKills

That sounds like a "public position"...

Grunge

Ya I'm pretty sure a lot of states that have medical marijuana, the deal is you have to give up your 2nd amendment "right" in exchange for the privilege of buying weed legally. It's mafia mentality, "we give you something, now we gotta take something"

EvilSeagull

What will happen is the black market for marijuana will remain since people won't want to sign up for medical marijuana and lose their right to own a gun. Someone isn't thinking this through.

FeminismKills

Here in Cali they've made it a felony to buy and sell weed on the street

QueenAlt

Or they are thinking it through. There's a lot of easy money to be lost if they can't incarcerate nonviolent pot smokers any more. How are they going to keep up with contractual quotas to the private prisons?

EvilSeagull

Someone deleted my comment for "context" so I'm surprised you were able to reply. The cops around here are not aggressive regarding marijuana, and unless you cause other problems they seem to ignore it. The private prisons are making tons of money off the incarcerated illegals, they won't have to worry about filling their quotas for a long time.

germanshepherd

Mine too. Nuts how anyone pro-2A is smeared as causing/wanting mass shootings
