This was already attempted with the spiders Clif High and his associate created to predict stock market fluctuations. When 9/11 happened, they then noticed that the spiders were actually predicting that there was going to be a major disaster, and now use the spiders to predict what may be getting ready to happen and believe it may have something to do with our collective consciousness. Here's the website if you haven't heard about the project: https://www.halfpasthuman.com/

I've followed Clif High for a while now. What he does with the web bots is a little different than RenTech. Clif High's web bot project uses internet data like a giant subconscious to predict future events. RenTech has a group of people with scientific and mathematical backgrounds and they look for patterns in daily life and compare it to the stock market. The two are similar but RenTech uses a more boots on the ground approach to data collection and pattern recognition. So if they find a pattern in weather data from Japan or bird migrations in North America and it meets up with patterns in the stock market they add it to the program. Maybe Japan has a string of bad weather that makes people not want to go to work which causes a small anomaly on the market. They look for all these statistically small patterns in life and add them all together, trying to find the larger pattern. What we consider to be random isn't so random at all. It's like looking at life as a giant math equation that's constantly playing out and trying to find it in the stock market.

Oh, gotcha! That's very interesting. It would be fascinating if they could eventually combine both projects to see if accuracy could be multiplied or perfected. Then again, it sort of creeps me out that maybe we really shouldn't know the future.
