Maybe the US won the Cold War through espionage and turning everyone at the top levels of the KGB into double agents. Putin would just be another intelligence asset that has to pay homage to the US intelligence community.

A lot of the energy sector officials in Russia seemed to be reporting in to Stratfor, for a while...
