As follow-up, a redditor informed me Stamets did a Coast-to-coast interview wherein he described the situation concerning his biopesticide patent- basically that he can write his own check, but his insistence on a stipulational clause that it be produced and marketed means nobody will buy it. If this was at all an incredible story I would understand your cynical skepticism, but in light of a history where these kinds of industrial sabotage are quite normal, I don't think you're acting reasonably.

Stamets could lie on video or to a journalist just as easily. I have no reason to suspect this though. Maybe if he was a politician or someone with a history of lying. It seems situational and you seem to be grasping at straws for a reason to doubt everything.

I have read most of his books, ordered and used many products from his fungi . com website and have awesome success in my urban garden! I recommend to all my green thumb friends.

Paul Stamets is an eminent researcher and innovator in mycology. He's a wizard with fungi. He's got many patents that could really upset all sorts of industries by introducing fungi into the mix. Remember how cannabis was criminalized to protect the oil, paper, and cotton industries?

I think i watched an interesting documentary of his - smart guy, he has done a lot of research in the fungus field. don't know why anyone woudl try to do that although our society is pretty "fragile" these days.

Could you please specify what he patented/has done that he'd be targeted by assasin, like give a specific article of the named research or something. Also fun fact from his wiki:

This info comes from a good friend who attended Stamets lecture at the International Herbal Summit. He told me Stamets fought off a would be assassin and now carries a pistol for oersonal defense. I have no reason to doubt my friend. I have three reasons to believe him:
