The social media companies are not making the money that they claim. So they are overhyping their influence in an attempt to secure government money and investor money. Facebook stopped getting young people the moment employers started looking at their profile. Lnkedin is the most successful, because it is self policing.

Reddit will die the moment a euro fag gets doxed by their stupid monitoring system, and GDPR comes down upon them like a ton of bricks.

So good.

Like all other marketing, they have to oversell themselves. I think some of these executives are overstating their influence.

Remember: Marx believed that humans have no innate nature, but rather we are programmed by other people (society). These Marxists actually believe the "tell a lie long enough" trope. Within their minority bubble perhaps, but boy the confirmation bias is strong with that one.
