YYYeeeaaahhh... this article is biased in every way, shape, and form. So much bullshit.

How about a single example?

FisherOfMen

I'll give you one:

The Fairness Doctrine was repealed in 1987 by the FCC. Reagan had staffed the FCC with prominent media businessmen who were intent on slashing government regulations… the equivalent of letting the fox guard the chicken coop.

That's pure bias. The fairness doctrine was the fox guarding the chicken coop. Putting an entity with a monopoly on force 100% in charge of determining what can and can't be said is always-- always -- a bad idea, and anyone who says differently is gaining money or power off the transaction.

Pure bias?

Was "The Fairness Doctrine was repealed in 1987 by the FCC"? Is this a fact ? Is there some other closely-related fact missing here that would say otherwise?

The fox here is the media executives, the chicken coup is media regulation. The example of the fox guarding it is the repeal of the fairness doctrine. This is quite standard analysis and the example is very specific. Could this have been said without the fox line even though it accurately characterized the situation? Sure. Conclusion: slight language bias.

Now, let's see some serious bias.

Putting an entity with a monopoly on force

  1. Incorrect statement. Nobody has a monopoly on force. The ability to use force varies.

  2. Very broad and vague generalization. For example, if government has a monopoly on force, isn't this being used to protect property ownership rights too?

100% in charge of determining what can and can't be said

Gross exaggeration. Fairness doctrine only said that, in certain situations, an alternative view must be presented. It did not say at all what could be said or not said, and it surely did not pick the speakers. Nearly all of TV broadcast was completely free of fairness doctrine requirements.

I found the key point in this article was that CIA front company purchased the ABC network and made changes -- which is precisely why I posted it here to /v/conspiracy .
