I don’t think it can be classified as a disorder. I think it’s certainly a destructive behavior to fall into. Perfectionism usually winds up producing poorer quality work, since “perfect” is rarely, if ever achieved before going through a series of failures.

I previously lived with a "perfectionist". This person allowed his requirement for everything to be just-so to paralyze him from doing anything, since it is rare that anything is perfect. I think if it keeps you from acting and causes a person to sink into a depressed paralysis then it is probably not a good thing. The label is a broad paintbrush.
