When you account for all the subsidiaries that monsanto owns and funnels their money through this is merely pennies on the dollar. this is the equivalent to the pocket change you may collect throughout the day.

now don't get me wrong, this opens this evil fucking company up to an unlimited number of lawsuits, but the court will not allow a massive corporation to fold of this magnitude. the politicians elected would worry the instnt depression the federal reserve puts us in would get them voted out and the bankers damn well wont have it as they are the very ones moving the money to and from.

to me, this is just a seemingly large victory for the peasants when the reality of the situation as that this is nothing to them and their evil campaign continues.

They may scoff at the measly 290 million but I wonder what they think of the thousands of lawsuits soon to be on the books. The stage has been set and the floodgates are about to be thrown open. No, I don't think they are laughing at all.

Monsato lost a bunch of suits in Hawaii and choose to settle quietly out of court.

The case was about significant increase in mental defect of children downwind of their farms. There are probably lots of cases like this that are escaping the public eye and being memory holed.

No doubt thats true. If they were smart they'd get out thier hefty checkbook and start writing. They will eventually run up against someone that won't settle for peanuts and it will cost them the farm before its over. Seems as if public opinion is already turning against them. Sucks to be them.

My county voted to ban their pesticides and prohibit the expansion of their farms some years ago and they had it struck down as unconstitutional. Now we are attacking them with the slow creep and restricting where pesticides can be sprayed and banning them on an individual basis. So far this is working because we have strong winds that carry chemicals far. As soon as it gets detected at a school, they get in trouble. Health department also aggressively logs complaints about exposure.
