I work in California and Oregon mostly and I've seen a massive change recently. I'm not seeing as many tweekers as I use to see. Now Heroin is is another matter. People I went to high school with that I know were tweeking, are not just smoking pot. Its actually an amazing thing to witness. People are actually breaking major addictions.

I would love to know how or why this is happening. Is it because people no longer go to drug dealers of old? Or is weed able to block the addictiveness of other drugs?

The ongoing failure of a "drug war" has only benefited the most tyranical elements within our own government - using fear as a means of control and a pretense to squash our liberties and justify the seemingly endless growth of their police/surveillance state.
