A ghost in the machine means a dissident person in disguise inside the system who is trying to sabotage the system from inside, while being careful not to be caught and exposed by pretending to be a loyal member of said system.

Before the XXI century everything seemed to be logic till the end of the century. Let's take for example the latest, like the war in Vietnam, the Hippies movement, or the JFK murder. Even if these were exceptionally unusual examples, they still followed basic logic, this way it was easy to believe that there was some profit behind, therefore these actions were rationally explainable.

What we have happening since the beginning of the XXI century is so absurd that defies logic. Because of this, it is logic to presume that there is a ghost in the machine now, a person who is trying to make happen as many absurd things as possible in order to show that the elite are quite demented, and not rational as everybody believed before. Let's face it, anybody who is not a complete idiot has started questioning the elite's mental sanity because of what is going on in the last two decades.
