I'm a KJV-Only bible-believing fundamentalist who believes the entire universe and all that is in it was created in 6 literal 24-hour time periods. I have an associates in applied sciences, can do a little bit of programming (learning as I go), and have read the bible all the way through upwards of 6 times. I've watched numerous videos on flat earth theory "proofs" and cringed every time.

The flat Earth conspiracy on the Internet is interesting on several fronts. Did it arise spontaneously, as a collective joke to see how many morons could be conned into taking it seriously? Or was it deliberately implemented as a way of testing the credulity and gullibility of modern Internet users?

Did research psychologists and statisticians get together in a think tank in Washington DC and devise an absurd scenario just to test whether it could be sold to a large number of people merely through repetition and reinforcement? Are they keeping tabs on what percentage of people take it seriously? Or was it just like a 4-chan meme, similar to the recent "14 little words" meme, that got out of control and went viral? Are the people keeping it alive only doing it because they think it is funny, or do they have a more sinister purpose?

I'll believe in the flat earth when they show me undeniable proof as in video of them arriving at the edge and then showing space looking straight down. I've never seen that and I'm positive I never will. The reasons they give for a flat earth are basically dumb and their experiments are ill conceived at best with absolutely questionable results at best.

That proves they use narrow focal lenses and their rockets spin quickly so what did this prove because it proves to me they are not amateurs. ALso what about GPS satellites and stuff like that how are they done? You are only showing amateurs shooting a rocket up probably a couple dozen miles and it ran out of fuel. Know being the key word, believing popular hearsay is not knowledge, it is a belief system. I can't test these things myself, but would be happy to try, should I gain the opportunity. I would be happy with any outcome, if I could prove it.

Another theory would say you can see the edge, because Antarctica is around us on all side, and this could indeed be tested, but not with a compass, assuming the north pole is in the center of the world we know (which this theory does assume). Still you could disprove it by flying OVER Antarctica completely, and you would be heading south when you started, but once on the other side, you should be facing NORTH, that would prove the globe is how it is taught. I would be interested in proving either, but if you aren't mounting a scientific expedition to do so, not terribly interested in hearing the 'facts' you've LEARNED from HEARSAY.

You can test the flat earth theory by phoning people in other timezones to track the path of the sun from sunset to sunrise in your local timezone. According to flat earth theory it has to change direction in order that it doesn't go below the horizon, but it doesn't.

Because flat earth sounds like a Psyop. Regardless of whether it is true or not, it sounds like something to discredit "real conspiracies". Of course NASA is lying about everything yes. I think the earth is probably hollow. Maybe it's flat. Maybe it has no shape because the material world is just a projection of our minds. I don't think there's a way to truly verify any of this. I have the suspicion that flat earth is being spread deliberately, even if it is true, to discredit conspiracy theories.

Another reason why people don't go into this territory is it means acknowledging that mainstream science is a bunch of lies - models deliberately constructed to be wrong to dumb us down. People are more easily convinced that the politicians, military, and the alphabet soup agencies are lying. But science is sacred in our society, attack that and you're attacking our society itself.
