I don't know about you but in isolation my mind wanders all over and I'm less productive. Having an occasional chat with a co-worker or eavesdropping on the stupid shit going on around me helps anchor me to what's going on around me and I actually get more done.

To be fair, that's something I'd use. Since the management refuse to give me my own office and cubicles sucks, this could be a nice alternative.

In the end, you have to understand that you are paid to do the work and such device isn't a problem until it gets forced on the workers.
