The real question we should be asking about all this data collection they are doing. Is it really so they can better target ads to people or is it for something more sinister. There has to be a point of diminishing returns where more data for the purposes of targeted ads isn't worth while. You would think phone, and internet would kinda cover most of it.

They're not kidding about the cost of an accident tying to the computers. When I worked in auto body I was amazed at some of the shit they would pull. Ford has ecu between the bumper and the drivers side front wheel, and they would get smashed constantly. Some of these new Buick bumpers are $800, without wiring harness, sensors, lights, reflectors, or any additional trim pieces. This is why I drive shitty old boats. If you want a car you can fix that doesn't spy on you, get something from before 1980. There's a good chance it'll make it thru an emp too.

Then the cars should be free if they’re gonna use Facebooks business model. I won’t be surprised to see either much cheaper cars that if you agree to the terms and conditions.

Insurance companies already do that... Attach this obd2 dongle and get better rates..

upvoted cuz you stole my comment.

All state has that "safe driver" dongle. It wouldn't help my rates at all.

Judging from what I see on the roads, if they wanted to get real about it, most people would triple their payment with that thing.
