Dont ask and Dont tell us about your imaginary friends!

Sounds reasonable.

lol. i'm finding the article i read to be mostly angry about not being able to annoy people...

so i agree with you.

Except he does not. Russia is anti protestant and for good reason. They've had a recent bout of protestant preachers coming in especially from the U.S Russia is orthodox Christian with the exception of Muslim states like Chechnya. Most of the protestant preachers coming in are anti Russian government and super liberal with some talking about dividing Russia into different parts.

i agree it is foggy. seems he passed laws making it illegal to evangelizing outside designated religious areas.

some take this as a major offense. given i think people have a right to be as they choose without being told they are wrong all the time... (unless it is hurting others.. )

Russian mentality is a little different on public speech. No one cares about what you say to your friend or your family. And no one will stop you from choosing to be a protestant.

But when you start going out on the street and preaching to random passerbys that considered an influence and would require a permit.

It's a similar approach to the ban on gay propaganda, you can talk about it all you want and even be gay but once you start going out in public with signs and shit it's not allowed.

Personally I like this approach, it keeps city centers nice where you won't get harassed by rabid feminists or be visually assaulted by naked fags.

thank you for you perspective. absolutely interested in hearing more about what it is like.

i just found some folks thinking it was unacceptable.

but your take, and the more i'm finding it doesn't seem that bad.

Thanks for the interest, what may be considered acceptable and normal in once culture may be considered completely unacceptable by another. It's why I find funny the fact that the people that are so adamant about globalization are usually in their minds staunch defenders of multiculturalism when in reality globalization seeks to destroy other cultures. These same people go around telling other countries what they should or should not be doing.

Russia for the Russians, China for the Chinese, and so on and so forth is what I always say.

On a side note, Russian leaders (if you include soviet times) in the last century haven't been big on religion, Putin has gone to the Orthodox equivalent of Christian mass many times and participates in holiday celebrations such as Easter and Christmas with a religious undertone regularly.

iDontShift

it is the religions that teach that others are lost and need to be saved. i was raised lutheran... we didn't do that, more like what you say it is in russia... leave others to decide... but that is because martin luther did away with hell.

again, thanks for sharing.

CatsControlTheEU

Mind you I have nothing against protestants and I can respect Lutheranism in particular, this is more to target the more extremist groups. Just as there are extremist muslims there are some cult like protestant groups that took advantage of the soviet collapse, in the terrible time for Russia that was the 90s many people returned back to religion and some people abused this to form cults many of them with their leaders claiming that they themselves are the second coming of Jesus and taking many wives often living in remote Siberian villages. Russians, Georgians, Armenians and Belarussians all tend to view people who are Christian as just Christians regardless of their denomination.

thanks for sharing. it does seem reasonable. part of this post was exploratory mission for me to hear some other opinions, so thanks much.
