Is this site a honeypot? I am concerned by this about this possibility too. The ownership and the management of it seems rather opaque. I act accordingly.

Not sure if posts are being manipulated. But it certainly seems to be flooded with rapid waves of knee-jerk one-dimensional racist and Jew-hating posts.

....I don't agree with much of what is posted on voat. Far too much is inane and shallow. And I would not want to have all of that associated with my real life reputation.
But at the same time I strongly feel websites like voat should exist, where people can express whatever unpopular opinions they might have.

However, the problem is there are so few websites like this available any longer,
And those few that remain are rapidly being shutdown or simply polluted with shills, saboteurs, and one more fatal category:
Those who take this opportunity, not to share well thought out opinions, but who choose instead to jeopardize these last refuges of free-speech by abusively spouting off hateful screeds with all the thoughtfulness and intelligence of an arrogant, self-centered, spoiled 12 year old bully.
It's a shame really.

I agree completely. I think most of the top posts are from shills now and many goats have probably taken the race bait and like you said, have fallen right into the zionists plan. I liked coming to voat to hear alternative news and viewpoints, yet most of what I read here now is "fuck niggers/Jews/gays/spics etc" ... And I dont think this talk redpills anyone, in fact if a decent inquisitive person was interested in visiting voat they would probably be instantly turned off. This level of hate doesnt help further our goals, and it creates more division which is exactly what the zionists want.

It has been noted. I was thinking of making a post pointing out that voat has changed to cliche headlines with no real content, but I've also noticed that most users are passive (passing through) types. They have been trained to self sensor so well that it's inevitable this site has become an alternate point of view census counter. The irony is that it's talked about in a conspiracy sub when anyone with high IQ and experience among psychotic people can see what's going on. What a manipulator would do is come here and post extreme content, manipulate votes to put them on the front page and that scares off normal users. Whomever is left won't log in and make posts again until the extreme posts disappear. The manipulator will connect all users to the extremists through guilt by association. Prepare to see articles about voat being a hate group.

Well thought out posts, or posts identifying actual problems always seemed to get lost in the wash.

Anyway, be careful that you would not say something on this site that you wouldn't be comfortable saying in the real world.

This I can agree with in some way, fuck larpers but still it's up to you not to get doxxed in some stupid way.

The ranking does goofy things sometimes and it's clearly because it's being manipulated, but it's not specifically against you. Your problem is probably that you have a blocked or subscribed sub throwing it off when you log in.

I'm a programmer and also enough of an ass to tell you what I've noticed - how to manipulate yourself up the chart with very few accounts. I haven't tried any of this or reviewed the site's code for it. This is just my observation and guess based on seeing certain users whose posts rise to page 2 only ever having a score of 2.

1. First, open 3 browsers on the same machine. You can use VMs with different proxies if you want to go undetected, but really I don't think anyone's looking anyway.
2. Make a post from one account.
3. Next, immediately copy-paste the link from it into your spare account browsers and upvote it before it's even appeared on /all/new. This will get you to appear on page two if not the front page most of the time.
