Not only government, everything.

For example here's a simulation of a philosopher seemingly intended to increase your ignorance:

Jean Baudrillard claims that our current society has replaced all reality and meaning with symbols and signs, and that human experience is a simulation of reality. Moreover, these simulacra are not merely mediations of reality, nor even deceptive mediations of reality; they are not based in a reality nor do they hide a reality, they simply hide that nothing like reality is relevant to our current understanding of our lives. (wikipedia)

The truth is these are deceptive mediations of reality, but he tells you they aren't and that nothing is real.

I mean... unless you're one of the folks who thinks the moon landings were faked and the ISS is staged, NASA is technically doing stuff in space.

I say "technically" because there is the fucking hell that is paperwork and the bureaucracy, but we do manage to send people up to the ISS regularly (and bring them back) and get science done.

But the IRS like the FED are actually set up as private corporations.

Though I guess you could say they have government authority anyway so it makes no difference.
