When manning the 50Cal and dual M240 in the Navy, they furnished us with a kevlar+plastic helmet and a vest with SEVERAL thick steel plates in the front, with 4-6inch THICK foam pads placed BEHIND them. They say it wont stop a 50cal, but you might survive being shot in the chest with one. Maybe.

Still, I wouldn't volunteer to try it.

if you want a bulletproof helmet it has to have 10inches thick steel walls, this will be a heavy one.

the helmet is rounded and shaped to deflect projectiles, it protects the wearer from bombs or if a tank crashes into the helmet. it will block the impacting bullets from far away snipers, when they have already lost most of their velocity.

Helmets are made to protect you from debris after an explosion and since they are made of steel have the potential to protect you from deflected bullets or indirect shots. They are also a bitch when you try to focus on a target . Talking from personal experience & what army officers told us.

cattarhero

Modern helmets are not made of steel, and haven't been for some time. They're mostly made of Kevlar now.

Thanks for the update , my army service was few decades ago

cattarhero

Yeah, when I was an active duty Marine, we were still wearing steel pots.

Are you retarded? I've literally seen one stop a 7.62.

Not much is bulletproof when you're huckin .50 at it. 5.56 is almost a joke.

Food_Stamp

Funny because ive literally seen the exact opposite.

Conspirologist

A helmet will turn most bullets most of the time but a straight on shot to the helmet will compromise it. Fuck you, retard.

Tablemonster

Tbf, the 7.62 I saw wasn't 100 dead on straight. I've also seen them run over by trucks. I just think you guys are bullshotting yourselves here. I wore one for a long time, I'm pretty familiar.
