Remove all anti-virus programs. Leave the firewall provided with OS on. Chrome and Firefox browsers have protection. Stay away from porn and gaming sites, if you don't know what you are doing. (Then you will learn like I did, the anti-Virus programs ARE the virus, and are unneeded resource hogs. It is a SCAM.

I used to use antivirus software, until I got sick of updating it all the time, and having it conflict with my other software. I took it off completely years ago, and haven't had a single problem since -- or before, for that matter. The only time I ever had a virus was when I bought opened software from a store (some asshole had bought the software, put a virus on it, and taken it back to the store, and the store sold it as new). I've never picked up anything from the Internet because I'm careful.
