So you keep reading how economists say that real wages adjusted for inflation have actually been trending down since the 1970's but nobody ever talks about the broader trends besides inflation and mechanization that started in the 70's that cause that to be true.

Obviously its not going to be any one reason but the big ones seem to be (1) women entering the workforce and (2) staying employed since they can't get knocked up by anymore since birth control appeared in the 70's when more women went into and stayed in employment.

Inflation on the fiat money due to constant printing of new money plus the fact that wages have not steadily increased at the same rate. I'm thinking if you do the math. What ever the increase in new money printed will drive down the value of currency in circulation by a ratio of sorts. If you print and add lets say 10% of current circulation, you just created 10% inflation on the economy. That example will probably be incorrect but it's a start. Remember, inflation is not natural, it is the force of added FIAT money into an existing economy. FIAT money is currency that is not backed by tangible assets like gold or silver. It is money that is backed by the thoughts and prayers of an indebted society.(slaves who think they're free.)
